Opening Reception: 6-9pm, Saturday, October 15
The desire to recreate the human body in different media resonates deeply throughout history. So what is it about the human body that is so essential that we refer back to it again and again? Why do we see the human form on everything, from objects, to clouds, to random markings on walls? Why is that when we build companions such as robots and toys, we build them in humanoid forms? By these acts are we acting as the ultimate creator, role-playing god, creating artwork in our own reflection?
50+ artists will be providing us with their answers to these questions with site specific artwork within the Preston Bradley Center. Please see the list below for the participating artists.
This exhibition is a presentation of the Uptown Arts Center and is curated by Eden Ünlüata, co-curated by Colette Wright Adams, BJ Allen, and Michelle Graves.
